World Championships 2001

Marta Andrade qualified for the Short Program at Worlds in Vancouver after finishing in 15th place in Qualifying group A. She skated to Giselle and her experience on ice played an important role. Marta started the program with a triple toe loop but her nerves made her doubt and after landing a slow double lutz, she was able to catch up to the music and the triple-double toe combination was much better. After that, the program turned up with a double axel-double toe combination and a lot of confidence in figures and the step sequences. The marks ranged from 3.7-4.9

Unfortunately, Marta finished in 30th place in the Short Program and couldn't skate at the final. She must wait for the "Golden Spin" in October to get a spot at the Olympic Games.

Marta is Spain's most experienced skater. She has participated in several international competitions (Trophée Lalique, Nebelhorn Trophy, Golden Spin, Karl Schäfer Memorial) and major championships such as Europeans, Worlds and two Olympic games: Lillehammer and Nagano, where she qualified to the finals.

  Marta about Spanish Nationals 2000:
“In junior category there're good female skaters who start to go up, and that's what we need in Spain. I think that in a couple of years we'll have good skaters to succeed us.”
